New Irish Works 2026
The ten projects exhibited in New Irish Works 2026 represent the growing diversity of contemporary photographic practices in Ireland. Find out more about the artists, the projects, and the issues discussed in this series of free artist talks.
Join the New Irish Works artists in a series of thematic conversations about their work and practice, in the context of the New Irish Works 2026 exhibition at the International Centre for the Image. The exhibition features work by Austin Hearne, Billy Kenrick, Ciara Richardson, Debbie Castro, Dorje De Burgh, Emily O’Connell, Garry Loughlin, Kate Nolan, Mandy O’Neill, and Miriam O’ Connor.
All talks are free and registration is required.
Note that some talks are online and others in-person at the centre.
On Institutional Power
and Acts of Recovery
6-7:30pm Monday 13th July – Online via Zoom
Artists Austin Hearne, Emily O’Connell, and Mandy O’Neill speak about their work and how, through personal narratives and social histories, previously silenced and forgotten experiences can be recovered.

Artists Miriam O’Connor, Dorje de Burgh, and Ciara Richardson reflect on acts of looking and the politics of visibility and surveillance through their practice.

Artists Billy Kenrick and Garry Loughlin share how they move beyond conventional depictions of landscape to examine how places acquire meaning through the symbolic and speculative.

5-6pm Saturday 8th August – In-person at the International Centre for the Image
Artists Debbie Castro and Kate Nolan draw upon the family archive to complete narratives, investigating how memory is shaped, preserved, and transmitted.
Book your place →New Irish Works is a triennial programme of activities launched in 2013 by PhotoIreland to support Irish photographers, bringing new works by selected artists to local and international audiences. Already in its 5th edition, the current exhibition runs until Sunday 9th August at the International Centre for the Image in Dublin.
