PhotoIreland announces the names of the four artists awarded a studio space at the International Centre for the Image for 2026, supported by the Arts Council of Ireland. The selected artists represent a variety of career stages and practices, as well as different focuses for the residency period. To help the selected artists benefit from the opportunity, PhotoIreland provides a €1,000 bursary for materials, among other supports.

Aoife Herrity is a Dublin-based artist, writer, and lecturer. Through writing and lens-based media, they explore internal states of being, memory, and responses to place. During the studio residency period, they will be expanding an ongoing project.

István László

István László is a Hungarian multidisciplinary artist based in Dublin. His practice engages with image-based narratives that interrogate memory, absence, and power through digital media. Using the studio’s resources, he will continue his research for his current projects, as well as produce new work.

Róisín White. Image by Niamh Barry

Róisín White is a multidisciplinary visual artist, primarily working with photography, sculpture, and textiles. Her current focus involves accessibility within artwork, both conceptually and in terms of physical access and tactility. She will use the studio for further research and development of her current work in progress.

Vera Ryklova

Vera Ryklova is a Dublin-based artist working across performance, photography, moving image, and installation. She is one of four inaugural artists in the studios, and her residency has been extended in preparation for an exhibition and publication.

The studio artists have the opportunity to work in a supportive, creative environment with regular, easy access to the library, art bookshop, and the Centre’s staff.
