Standing in stark contrast to the sanitised, shampooed images of dogs seen in so many calendars and magazines, the Acts of Dog zine is a small sample from a much larger body of work, photographing dogs on their own terms, rather than just as people’s pets. The project aims to document dogs in the dog world, with their own kinships, chaos, and wildness.

Ben Burfitt is a London-based photographer and self-employed dog-walker. He cites luck and patience as being paramount to his practice, and unpredictability as that which excites him most regarding photography. His creative inspirations include Trent Parke, Walker Evans, Alec Soth, Martin Kollar, Mark Power, and Saul Leitter.
