I dreamt the same dream every night. As if haunted by a ghost or a spirit. For almost two years, I’ve woken up, left the bed, and drunk a full glass of Suntory whiskey, hunched over until dawn. Life in Japan, leaving behind parents and siblings in Korea. And restless anxiety about the future. This was me 35 years ago. A portrait of my younger days, an endless embarrassment of timidity. Tokyo was a warm winter.
