The work explores ideas of home and land, shaped by two places that have defined a life: a family farm in Brazil and a present neighbourhood in Dublin. Though far apart, these landscapes feel closely linked, offering a shared ground where memory, identity and imagination converge. The photographs blend recollection with fiction, using light and colour to transform everyday scenes into something emotionally charged, cinematic and quietly disquieting. Reverie Park is a contemplative meditation on memory, loss and the fragile space between vitality and decline. Inspired by the atmosphere of Samuel Beckett’s Waiting for Godot, the series evokes a suspended world where figures seem caught in time, drifting between the real and the imagined.

Shot over three years, Reverie Park unfolds across two emotional geographies, the farm of childhood and the Dublin streets now walked. Real locations merge with constructed scenes, blurring the boundary between document and dream and creating a visual language where the surreal meets the intimate. The project began during a time of mourning, following the death of a parent, and the natural cycles of the farm, birth and death, blooming and fading, became central themes. Initially focused on flora and fauna, the series grew to include symbolic scenes with human figures, echoing Beckett’s stripped back stagecraft and sense of existential stillness, with grief rendered through quiet lyricism.

Reverie Park is both personal and universal, a poetic reflection on time, identity and the beauty found in stillness. With writing from Robin Titchener, a long established British photobook collector and writer, the book unfolds in poetically reflective prose.

About the Artist
Diego Fabro is a Brazilian-Irish fine art photographer whose staged, large-format work is shaped by the experience of living between two worlds. Built through close collaboration with actors, designers, and image-makers, his tableaux transform domestic spaces into charged psychological landscapes, interiors where presence and absence become indistinguishable. Figures suspended between action and stillness, spaces saturated with time: each image is an architecture of light, gesture, and silence in which the familiar becomes irreversibly strange.

His debut monograph, Reverie Park, was published by TG Publishing in 2026. His work is held in the National Photography Collection and the State Art Collection (OPW), and has been exhibited at Photo Museum Ireland, PhotoIreland Festival, and the Royal Hibernian Academy. Publications featuring his work include TIME Magazine, the British Journal of Photography, and Vogue.
