With a long-term commitment and an open-minded approach, Belgian artist Vincen Beeckman challenges norms. Through personal conversations, this book offers a deeper understanding of Beeckman’s creative process and takes you on a visual journey through four of his projects: CracksLes IntimesLa Devinière and Studio Palermo. By provoking questions rather than providing answers, Pong Ping ignites a profound engagement with the complexities of photography.

About the Artist
Vincen Beeckman was born in 1973 in Brussels. For him, collaboration is central. The photographer eschews the one-way photographer-subject relationship that defines so many photographic practices. Instead, he largely collaborates with marginalised and vulnerable individuals and provides visibility for communities otherwise unacknowledged.

About the Publisher
FOMU aims to cherish and share the power, vulnerability, and magic of photography.

The photographic image has a unique relationship to reality. In contemporary society, a good understanding of visual imagery is indispensable for understanding the world.

Therefore, FOMU seeks to sharpen image awareness. We achieve this by making photography accessible from a historical perspective and within a current context. Because today’s experiments are tomorrow’s heritage, we encourage creation, dynamism, and innovation. FOMU is a place where people feel welcome and empowered to broaden their horizons through photography.
