About the Artist
As a creator, Irene Zottola explores the limits of analogue photography to generate a world of dreamlike and plastic character, often accompanying images with text. As an educator, she uses image and sound as mediation tools to foster creativity with different social groups. Her visual universe is characterised by storytelling through poetic images generated in a unique way in different materials in which the relationship with nature, body and identity are protagonists. In 2021, she received one of the Creation Grants awarded by VEGAP and was selected in the artistic residency ART(e)gileak of the BBK with a participatory photography project. She has exhibited at festivals in Spain, Italy, Morocco and published in publishing houses such as Lumen, La Bella Varsovia and magazines like Fisheye Magazine, LF or Vostok. The last years stand out for being selected by PhotoEspaña to be part of the European platform FUTURES and have made an artistic residency in Sousse (Tunisia) through JISER Reflexions Mediterrànies.
