This photobook has very few texts, only images that follow one another one after the other; each artist has created an articulated project, composing different stories which together make up a volume that exceeds two hundred pages. Lombadelli’s pages are mysterious, printed in silver on black paper; Martegani tells the distant story, perhaps in space perhaps in time, of the city of Persepolis; Cabiati instead inserts a poster followed by some very delicate drawings, all dedicated to details (of sweets) taken from the film Marie Antoinette by Sofia Coppola; Presicce presents the documentation of a performance and Armin Link gives us the silent landscape of Berlin seen from the top of a desolate building.

About the Artists

Amedeo Martegani is an artist and the founder of A+M Bookstore, one of the first spaces dedicated to contemporary art publication in Milan. Vol 1 and Vol 2 are two books printed in very small numbers presenting his searches for images on the Internet with all the flair of an exceptional creator of books.

Luigi Presicce makes performances which constantly refer to popular and ritual culture and iconography. They aim to go beyond the theatrical dimension by proposing tableaux vivants made of ‘living’ paintings or sculptures, placed in a dialogue with symbols linked to esoterism and Freemasonry.

Vincenzo Cabiati was trained in the studio of his father Achille, who was a painter that took part of the realism movement in the ‘40s. During the more recent years, the artist’s interest is primarily projected towards polychrome ceramics. His obsession with sequence and frames makes cinema an inexhaustible source of images. Cabiati’s works are part of numerous national and international collections. He lives and works in Milan.

Armin Linke (b. 1966, Milan) is an artist working with photography and film by setting up processes that question the medium, its technologies, narrative structures, and complicities within wider socio-political structures. Linke’s work observes how human beings (re-)design and use space and time as social forms: it constructs questions / propositions on planning the future, on the hidden entanglements and inter-dependences within collective design practices, and on the shifting of sites of responsibility.
