Down there, in the middle of nowhere, vestiges of the great upheaval of the Earth’s crust, millions of years old; the island volcanoes of Saint-Paul, Crozet, Kerguelen, and Amsterdam offer a vision of Eden amongst a maritime hell. Here, time doesn’t pass. This primitive place has preserved its original appearance.”

About the Artist
Philippe Lopparelli has been a member of the Tendance Floue collective since 1996. For over twenty years, he has focused on territories where time is no longer that of the usual course of the world, on places and situations that are often extreme where he seeks to create his own universe.
From the “Ephemeral Landscapes” of the Lorraine steel industry to the southern and Antarctic lands, his photographs take us into other spatial and temporal dimensions.
