This book builds on Architekturfotografie published in 2017. Since its release, many new photographs have joined my archive. I have captured them in places such as Taipei, Seoul, Shanghai, Pisa, Andratx, Sofia, Leeds, Glasgow, St. Anton, Colmar, Zagreb, Brno, and Mödling. Texts by Michiel Huijben run like markers through the book and reflect on the idea of the boundary. They consider some of the many ways that the threshold or the boundary shapes our relationships, both with our surroundings— built and organic, historical and present— and with one another. Thus, this publication foregrounds moments of architectural incongruity and the meeting of different forms and times. It lingers on friction, disruption, and contrast, along with their inevitable creation of something new.

About the Artist
Bianca Pedrina is a Swiss, Austrian ultra-contemporary artist born in Basel in 1985. Bianca Pedrina’s artistic practice revolves around exploring architecture, urban development, and public spaces through photography. She focuses on capturing the small details that make up cities, particularly street dust, and her work often delves into the transformation of urban environments by human and natural forces. Pedrina’s approach is characterized by a subtle and playful interpretation of architecture, seeking out imperfections and traces of time to highlight the essence and reality of spaces.

About the Publisher
Founded in 2009 (originally by Karsten Födinger and Thomas Geiger), Mark Pezinger Books is a Vienna-based publisher of artists’ books run by graphic designer Astrid Seme and artist Thomas Geiger. For them, publishing is a collaborative process that begins with a conversation: developing a raw idea through editing, design, and production, and ultimately bringing it to audiences through distribution. In 2019, they initiated Black Forest Library, a pocket book series that wanders between disciplines. Since 2024, they have edited and published the Fine Companions series in collaboration with the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. Alongside, Astrid and Thomas regularly teach and lead workshops on artistic publishing, editing, and book design.
