About the Artist
Mark Duffy is an Irish artist based in the UK. Duffy’s artworks explore issues of power and national identity. He uses photography and multi-media installation to build recurring motifs that reveal alternative narratives about political phenomena with absurdity and humour. Having spent his childhood as an illegal immigrant in the USA, Duffy uses his experiences as part of the postcolonial Irish diaspora to interrogate how a sense of place, belonging and national and cultural identity can be constructed, or dismantled. This threads through his work about Ireland and Irishness, as well as his many projects critiquing Brexit and UK Parliament.
