About the Publisher
MANNSCHAFT magazine was created in Switzerland in 2010 out of the need to publish a profound and contemporary medium for gay and bisexual men and to give them visibility.
At the time, queer people were rarely represented in the mainstream media, and when they were, it was in the context of sensationalist headlines. As a start-up, they wanted to take the telling of their stories into their own hands.
A lot has changed since then. Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Liechtenstein introduced marriage for all. The queer community is widely represented in films, series and books, and there are now also Prides and CSDs in smaller towns.
They have also undergone a change. They have been available in Germany since 2015 and in Austria since 2020. Content is provided by editors from all over the German-speaking world. In 2020, they expanded their focus from gay and bisexual men to lesbian and bisexual women and the entire LGBTIQ community. Their thin monthly magazine became a thick quarterly magazine.
