Misadventure explores the aftermath of the death of the artist’s uncle. Moving between photographs and text, the work reflects on grief, family, and absence. Situated between a novella and a photobook, the project con structs a multistranded narrative shaped by memory, documentation, and imagination. The work draws from personal diaries, photo-elicitation processes, observational notes, archival references, and literary influences. Its visual language combines carefully composed medium-format photographs with snapshots and altered archival imagery, tracing a pursuit of reflection and reconnection. This intimate narrative of personal loss, situated within a broader Irish context of family, estrangement, and addiction, invites viewers to project their own experiences onto its layered form.

This photobook was created and self-published as part of the TUD Graduate show 2026.

About the Artist
Adam Tucker is a photographer based in north Dublin with a practice rooted in narrative storytelling through the combination of image and text. His work utilises collaborative research methods to create lay- ered and dimensional works which provide the opportunity for multiple readings. Drawing from documen tary, street, and collaborative photographic modes, he explores memory, place, movement, personal history, estrangement, and adventure through textual elements derived from semi-structured interviews, archival material, photo-elicitation strategies, and creative writing. Through this approach, he makes reflective and open-ended work that encourages a personal connection with the viewer.
