This June, the eighth edition of PHOTONIC MOMENTS – MONTH OF PHOTOGRAPHY festival will take place in Ljubljana, Slovenia. The festival was founded in 2005 as the first international festival of contemporary photography in Southeast Europe and its leading role in the region continues through to today. Photonic Moments gives the best insight into contemporary photography in Central and Southeast Europe!

About the Editor
Miha Colner (b. 1978) is an art historian who works as a curator at GBJ – Božidar Jakac Art Museum, Kostanjevica na Krki, Slovenia. He is also active as a publicist, specialised in visual arts, namely photography, printmaking, artists’ moving image and various forms of (new) media art. In the period 2017-2020 he was a curator at MGLC – International Centre of Graphic Arts, Ljubljana; in the period 2006-2016 he was a curator at Photon – Centre for Contemporary Photography, Ljubljana. Since 2005 he has been a contributor of newspapers, magazines, specialist publications, and his personal blog, as well as part-time lecturer. He lives and works in Ljubljana, Slovenia.

About the Organisation
The European Month of Photography (EMOP) was initiated in 2004 by the Maison Européenne de la Photographie, Paris, and its director Jean-Luc Monterosso as a joint venture between European capitals hosting a photography festival with the aim to confront expertise in curatorial practice in photography and the intention to develop common projects, notably exhibitions, including exchange of information about the local photographers and artists concerned with photography. As founding members acted the Maison Européenne de la Photographie, Paris, the Cultural Departement of the City of Berlin (Museumspädagogischer Dienst Berlin headed by Thomas Friedrich) and the Department for Cultural Affairs of the City of Vienna (director Bernhard Denscher).
