Me and You in the Continuum (Now: Zero) is a two-person show by Irish artists Brian Teeling and Dorje de Burgh. Their practices are rooted primarily in photography, but they also work in mixed media, film, and installation. This exhibition utilises a narrative literary device both embedded and found in modern fiction, specifically, Philip K. Dick’s ‘The Man in The High Castle’ as a source of intrigue and inspiration.
This double narrative device of a book-within-a-book raises questions about the nature of truth and reality while suggesting that fiction can reveal historical truths more effectively than factual accounts. Identifying this structure within the context of a two-person exhibition underlined by a dual method shown in pairs, the work will interweave reality and fiction in film stills, analogue photographs, texts, framed works, and a new single-screen short film. Work will be presented in pairs, highlighting the tension and communion between the two artists’ works and the places that they both meet and diverge, presenting clashing realities.

About the Artist:
Brian Teeling is an Irish artist whose practice explores queer identity, memory, and absence through photography, sculpture, and text-based works. His work engages with themes of loss, trauma, and spectral presence, drawing on concepts of hauntology and speculative history to interrogate the traces left behind by queer lives and histories. Teeling’s practice resists traditional representation, using material instability, layered imagery, and immersive installations to explore the intersections of personal and collective memory. His work has been exhibited in major institutions, including the Irish Museum of Modern Art, the National Gallery of Ireland, and the Crawford Art Gallery.

Dorje de Burgh is Dublin-born and based photographic artist practicing since 2012. His work is engaged in a dialogue with the dark poetics and reflexive potential of the photographic quotidian via oblique documentary, collage, writing and video. This practice draws upon lack, liminality, libidinal excess and the paradoxes of dematerialised (image) desire in a simulacral and schizoid semiocapitalist present. He recently received a first-class Masters in Art in the Contemporary World from NCAD writing on the subject of Death and the Dematerialised Image.
