About the Publisher
Established in 1986 by the photographic community as a not-for-profit exhibition and resource centre, CCP has played a pivotal role in the support and development of photo-based arts and public engagement with photography in Australia, and in the promotion of Australian artists internationally.
In the early 1990s (starting out as the Victorian Centre for Photography), the CCP was briefly located in Rathdowne St, Carlton. In 1992 the organisation moved to 205 Johnston St, Fitzroy, where it stayed until 2005. In 2005, CCP relocated just around the corner to purpose-designed and fitted-out leased premises (architect Sean Godsell Architects), at 404 George St, Fitzroy, where it stayed until 2024.
In 2025, CCP is without a permanent, dedicated space and is instead presenting exhibitions and events in partnership with host institutions and organisations.
