The publication strategy of the 9th Triennial of Photography Hamburg 2026 aims to represent and document the richness and variety of its exhibition programme, while reflecting the diversity of the shows that shape the event. Conceived as companions to each of the eleven exhibitions across the eight participating art institutions, the publications are intended to be affordable and accessible to a broad public. Emphasizing visual content, they serve not only as records of the exhibitions but also as spaces for reflection, connecting artists, curators and audiences within the broader curatorial framework.

About the Festival
The Triennial of Photography Hamburg is an internationally acclaimed photo-graphy festival held every three years in collaboration with the city’s major museums, exhibition venues, and cultural institutions. Initiated in 1999 by German collector and photographer F.C. Gundlach, the festival has evolved into one of Germany’s most significant photography events. Each edition highlights current trends in photography and unites a wide range of exhibitions under a shared thematic framework.
The exhibitions engage with pressing contemporary issues and are accom-panied by a wide supporting programme that includes international and inter-disciplinary symposia, artist talks, panel discussions, lectures, and portfolio reviews. Since 2014, the Triennial of Photography Hamburg has been organised by Deichtorhallen Hamburg.
